Hello, and welcome to my life. My name is Patrick, and you are in control of what I do this year. Before I get into the good stuff, let me give you some background information. I am a recent college grad who is living in New York City and beginning a fun social experiment: putting the control of my life in your hands. Because this job economy has been so good, I have not been able to get a job, and as I am not too sure what I want to do, I’ve decided to let you decide for me.
So here is the deal, dear readers. I will be living in New York City for the next year (August 2009-August 2010), and will plan my days based on what you say I should do. Send me suggestions, ideas, jobs, or activities to do at makemydaynyc@gmail.com, and I will do it. Seriously. You are responsible for my actions. Now I won’t do everything, because 1) I will get a lot of suggestions, and 2) people may ask me to do a lot of waaaay weird things, so I should clarify now that the suggestions I do should be decent, perhaps with the occasional dip in to R (I have a potty mouth sometimes). This will (hopefully) be a fun site where I do fun things, nothing too weird or Jackass style. Nothing illegal, nothing that will hurt me, and nothing that will hurt others. But I will take as many suggestions as I can possibly do and document it all. Got and extra ticket to something and need someone to go with you? I’ll go. Want me to do something for your friends of family? Okay. Want me to do something you have never had the guts to do? Surely. Need someone to do your laundry? Maybe….okay yes I’ll do it. Want me to go to travel and give you city, restaurant, movie, music, or books reviews? I can do it. I read at a 14th grade level, and have yet to throw up on a plane and/or train. Just give me ANY suggestions you have, and I will do them, anything.
It’s a choose your own adventure book where I am the adventure. Choose wisely.
But here is the thing. As stated earlier, I would really like to make this social experiment my job for the year. How will that happen? Once, again, I need your help. As you will see on this site, I have a way to donate. I know times are tough and there isn’t as much extra money as we would like. I personally skimp on the guacamole at Chipotle because I’m not dishing out the extra two bucks. Don't feel in anyway you have to donate, but any donations will be hugely helpful. Think of how much you spent at the bar last weekend, or what you spent on dinner, and maybe you can help me out. So if you enjoy this blog, please help me out so that I can continue providing the world with a fun site. And if I use your suggestion and it costs money to do, a donation would be greatly appreciated.
