Culture! and Hot Sauce.

Happy Labor Day. A day when only some people have to work, and the rest of us eat, drink, watch a parade in Brooklyn and get our ear drums blown out.

Today, Christina (my girlfriend) and I headed into Brooklyn for the annual West Indies Parade. This was actually suggested to me to do for Make My Day by Emily, so yet another little precursor to Wednesday's kickoff. It was a ton of fun. We got down there right around 12:30 just as the beginning of the parade was passing. Perfect timing. So many people out and about with so many delicious types of food. But I saw something else that caught my eye. There was a hot sauce stand with this guy James selling his gourmet hot sauce. Now I am a lover of hot, and of sauces, so this was up my alley, and James did not disappoint. His gourmet Pica sauces (www.picapeppers.com) blew my brain. Literally. My mouth was HOT, but oh goodness it was the best stuff I may have ever had. I bought a couple bottles. Here is a picture of James and his product. Check out his site. Get some sauce. Mmmm.

We spent the rest of the day walking around and enjoying the sites and sounds:

And caught up with our old JVC roommate amigo Kyle. He is tall.

All and all a good afternoon of thousands of people, mango lemonades, hot sauce, and music so loud my brain still bumps. Jamaica in the house whoaaaaaa!

Oh and on our way out I see this guy walking by and I say to myself, I know you from somewhere. Turns out it was Hollywood actor Michael Rapaport (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001650/). I don't think he liked being recognized, because I tried to say hi and he looked at me like the Pharisees looked at lepers in Jesus' time...not too nice.

Oh well. Successful day. And now I must go get ready for my roommate Max's birthday outing. Going to Fat Cat to play some shuffle board and ping pong.

First official blog entry starts Wednesday. Get excited. Tell your friends. Like Donkey Kong. It's on.
